Anyone knows ES 350 has rust issue?
I am living in Toronto. I bought an new 2012 ES 350 last April and have driven it for less than 10000 KM, just drive it for daily commute on a high way. Now I noticed that my car already shows a lot of yellow rust dots, in the front and on both sides of front door area, I don’t understand why Lexus has such poor quality of painting? I know we have bad winter here, a lot of salt on the road, but Lexus should handle it better than this, right? Does anyone knows if the similar issue happens to you or your friends?

My guess is they are just rust spots imbedded in the paint, and that they would come out wi a clay bar.
Is the paint chipped in those spots?

I have a friend who worked in the car service industry. This could be rail rust - i.e. small particles of metal from the train rails that somehow got embedded in the paint during transport. Saw it happen on another non-Lexus car that I was considering buying. It can be removed with some work - or take it to the dealer you purchased from / get service done and ask if they'll remove it.

Happens to my car every winter! When spring arrives i usually spend an hr claying my car removing all the fallout from my paint! The above pic is not my car, but shows how bad it can get if its not removed.. Happens to all cars! But starfire perl white makes it show up Big time.

I brought my car to the dealer today, they told me one of rust spot is cast by paint chipped that need some touch ups, the rest of them are called environmental rust, it is rust but can be removed by wax/clay whatever it called. And they told me it’s normal situation for all cars in heavily salted environment. Since my car is white so it’s noticeable very easily.
From one of post, it could rail rust, that’s a new to me too. It’s good to know though.
Thanks for all your replies,

clay it, but it could be chips from sand/salt that rusted over.
lexus paint is significantly softer/thinner by comparison to many other manufacturer's paint finishes, and has been for a long time.

How often do you clay your ES350, do you do it by yourself? What do you do with the chips?

The chips you'll want to get some touch up paint for. It won't look great, but it'll prevent rust and help the chips be a bit more inconspicuous.
The other thing to keep in mind is that using a good SEALANT, not just wax, but SEALANT, will help prevent that stuff from really sticking to the paint and will make it easier to remove with the clay bar.
