Default Questions about 25,000 mile oil change 2010 ES350

I'm days away from my 25,000 mile oil change. Is there anything mandatory that must be done besides the OLF? I don't want my warranty voided Thanks Dorothy

Dorothy, your warranty will not be voided if you take your car to one an independent auto mechanic and two you only get get specific things done. If you take your vehicle to the Lexus dealer for the 25,000 mile service, they will charge you about $200. All they will do is an oil filter replacement and oil change and a bunch of inspection items. If you go to the Lexus dealer, I would ask for only the oil and filter replacement which should cost you no more than $75. I take my car to an independent shop and ask for the oil change and get charged $50. Your car is a Lexus and only has 25000 miles, nothing needs inspecting. Keep your receipt if you go the independent route. The 30,000 mile checkup of the oil and brake fluid even at the Lexus dealer should cost you about $175. If you ask for the 30,000 service again with all the so called inspection items, it will cost you about $400.

The maintenance schedule is every 5,000 miles change the oil. Every 30,000 change the brake fluid. At 100,000 miles and than every 50,000 miles there after change the coolant. The transmission fluid never need to be changed. The spark plugs at 125,000 miles. You have a timing chain and not a belt that never needs to be changed.

Thanks very much I usually have SAMS Club do rotations every 7,000 miles for $15.

I'm still not clear on air & cabin filters other than I won't have Lexus do them, I'll get a neighbor to do it for a plate of cookies.

I would change both filters at 20-25,000 miles. Lexus recommends 30,000 but with gas at $3.50 a gallon, I would change these earlier. You can buy them at Advance Auto etc. Both will cost you about $35. The cabin air filter is really easy. It is right behind the glove box. The engine filter once you remove all the plastic covering takes 60 seconds to replace with no tools required. Four clips!!!

Sewell Lexus a very good low cost vendor. You could order two cabin filters for $40, two air filters for $36, 10 oil filters for $36 and 10 oil filter crush washers for $ 7.80. Total of $119.80 plus shipping and that would cover you for 50,000 miles.

Oil/Lube/Filter , Cabin Filter, Air Filter--->FYI Lexus was going to charge me $172 plus shop charges and sales tax etc about $210 out the door

Toyota charged me $89.04 out the door for the same and did a 84 point inspection which included topping off fluids.

Thanks for suggestion. D

Big difference! You'll be able to get nearly 3 services for the price of one at the L dealer...
