Default Oil Change at Dealer

I went to Lexus in Las Vegas for an oil change and they quoted me $100 which I declined. I mean I know they will wash the car, but I think the price is excessive.

How much is everybody paying for an oil change at the dealer.

I just paid $73.00 at a Lexus dealer in Ontario, Ca. but only because I had to replace the windshield and have a couple warranty things worked on otherwise I would not pay that much for a simple oil change. My guy down the street charges me $26 for a good oil and filter change.

you could do it for $30 with fully synthetic (about $20 for 4 quarts) and a filter. But at dealerships i believe they would also perform an inspection of the vehicle.

My Lexus shop only charges $39.95 for the oil and filter change. Last trip they gave me a extra couple of quarts, just as a bonus!

Makes the Engine kind of shutter! They apologized and offered to change the oil on "the house" next time.

The amount of time driving to and back from the dealer combined with the latent wait has made me a DIY oil changer. If you have never done it, give it a try. Once every 3 months, take an hour of your time and spend it maintaining your car, 60 minutes will yield a proper oil change, fluid check, rotation of all 4 wheels, and brake check.

Exactly why I still change my own oil. I just don't have the time to let someone else do it.

I agree. I never did my own oil changes until one Christmas i was forced too. The dealer told me they had no openings on the two weeks before Christmas, so i just did it myself. To my surprise, i found out my dealer was using very cheap no brand filters as opposed to the Toyota Filter they assured me they were using. Not to mention the long drive, and 3 hour wait time.

Since then, I have not taken my car for an oil change at the dealer. Mobil 1 fluid, filter, and let drain for a couple of hours every 8,000 miles. I also drain and refill transmission fluid while im at it. And maybe drain and refill the power steering (mini tower looking thing) if i have any Mobil 1 ATF in the garage.
