Default Smartaccess issue with door

My 2007 ES is great, but the drivers front door smartaccess won't work anymore. It still locks and unlocks normally, but just not with smartaccess. Anyone have any idea what causes this or how I fix it?

Thanks!

not the remote battery. I replaced it already thinking that might be the issue. Plus, smartaccess works fine on the other 3 doors of the car.

Yeah most likely its due to complications with the door handle, should check and see if it need to be replaced. Let us know what it end up being.

Speaking of which... if the battery in the car dies, how do you get the doors unlocked?

I always wondered this.

There is a manual key tucked inside the fob which you can use to unlock the doors.
