I've wondered about that but don't think individual parts for the steering wheel are available so it would require an entire steering wheel assembly which wouldn't be something you would want to do.
What I noticed most about your picture was that your "Tank Average" looks like it is reading a very low 2.6 mpg and your gas guage is showing something near half a tank - Am I seeing that right or is it really 26 mpg?
this picture is not for my car
my car is 2008
this is 2010 which i put here in my post to show how the steering button look
--------------------
actually i found the individual part just the button
in my Lexus Dealer
only for 180$ for both the two parts
but the big question is ?
is it going to fit with my old Es 2008
??????????????
It appears the two switches are joined by one cable that splits with one connector. The page lists a few variations depending on your options. One of them is like $277 and the other two variations are over $300. Kind of a lot of money to take a gamble on. On top of that then you get to mess with the steering wheel and airbag. Not too sure if I'd be comfortable doing that.
They probably aren't going to show up too often, but possibly a steering wheel from a wrecked 2010 might be found on eBay.
FWIW - it LOOKS like they should physically fit - it all depends if the harness is the same too.
Looked at the diagram for the 2008 - it actually shares the same image, but that probably doesn't mean much.
Also just looked at the used wheels on eBay - once the airbag is off the swap looks very simple.
thanks 4 response MadMax96
so we still don't know the answer?
Nope - I don't think anyone wants to take a $300 gamble. If the part doesn't work, I doubt it'd be returnable and I also doubt it could ever be sold since it would be rare that anyone would need a replacement.
Best bet is to maybe scour a 2010+ steering wheel on eBay and scavenge the buttons if they're still there. There's one 2010 wheel on eBay now w/o buttons - I emailed the seller to see if they had them and they don't. Doh.
I finally tried this after checking the post here. I got one set from www.taobao.com 3 months ago (~800 RMB ~= 135 USD). I asked the technician to put them on in my last maintenance. They work perfectly.
