The switch with the "car/doors" icon on it when pressed in (locked position) enables the entry light (with fade) system which operates when you open a door. When the switch is "out" the entry light system is disabled. The switch with the "light" icon on it is simply an on/off switch for the two front overhead (reading) lights and rear dome light. Not sure when it occured but these two switch locations are reversed on my 2011. Test them out.......sit in the driver's seat and operate the switches and open/close your driver door etc. That's how I figured them out. The lower door panel lights and foot well lights will always come on when a door is opened......at least with my 2011.
No.....the "reading/personal" lights on your car are the bank of LED lights (3 each side) on your overhead console......these were changed to a single incandescent bulb (each side) in 2010, I think. The two small LEDs that you have in the "black thingie" (my 2011 has only one) and their purpose are shown on another page of your Owner's Manual. On mine, the single LED there lights up the gear selector under certain conditions. I know your 2007 has a different rear dome/personal light setup than the post 2010 cars.
Rarely, I've seen promotional materials for pre-2010 ES refer to "illuminated cup holders." When I was shopping, naturally I looked and never found a light inside the cup holders themselves, but finally realized these two little spotlights are aimed directly at the area.
/so those little dinky slits in the black thingie are reading lights are they???
What can I say, I can't tell you how many times I have asked similar questions and been
told to check the Owners Manual. Frankly, I find the explanations in the Manual
MOSTLY not understandable!! 😰😱😭😥
