Rattles....
I know this is a common trend, but has anyone been successful with fixing all of the rattles in their ES. I have had the dealer cure the dash rattle, but I seem to have a rattle in the rear passenger side area and a rattle in the front door or air vent, having trouble identifying the exact location. I figured with all the talk about rattles the problems must all be coming from the same place. Its a great car, but if I don't cure these problems soon its gonna become a planter on my front lawn, its driving me nuts! I have a 07 with 40,000miles.

rattles
my rattle was in the dash on my 2007. they fixed it under warranty but the rattle is back. Unfortunately the warranty for the rattle was one year and it really did not get worse until after the year.
So I wrote a letter to the dealer at Roseville lexus in CA and did not even get a reply.
that was very dissapointing. the rattle seems to be worse in cold weather so we will see how it is this winter at least that is my only rattle
good luck

I've bulletproofed my ES 2008 so much now that the result is better than expected. All you need is to know your car and examine the problem areas.
The problems areas are:
1. doors: need to dynamat some areas, works great. You will not need that much since it is mostly for rattles, not soundproofing.
2. front speakers and side vents holes: need silicone gluing and weatherstrip foam.
3. nav/radio console: THE MAIN PLACE (maintly the clock unit) , weatherstip foam and silicone glue.
4. panoramic glass: 2 plastics brackets on the side rails to prevent water to get in. weatherstip foam.
In my case, it is mostly when it is very hot that the rattles is more present, but it is finish now.
Personnally, solving minor rattles is more of a DIY since the dealer will do squat about it. When disassemble the parts, you will notice how well the car is made and patching is not that hard.

You don't fix the door speaker, but the metal structures itself. To fix the rattles from the door, it most vulnerable areas are the metal around the speaker: very thin and resonate and the bracket that hold the inner panel, the one on the arm rest. Plus, the window rail that is held with clips can vibrate, just use foam strip found renovation stores and pad that rail. Will all that, the door will sound like a big block of steel.
