For some reason, my keyless remote no longer unlocks the car when I approach it. Nor does it unlock when I touch the rear door handle. How do I activate this function. I could not find the info in the manual.

It's in the manual - both how to open the car with the key and how to start the car with a low remote battery. You might first just replace the battery in the remote which is also in the manual and pretty easy to do. You can buy a new battery at a lot of places like Walgreen's or Radio Shack. I would replace the battery in the second remote at the same time.
