Default ES Fuel Economy

I've had my ES about two months now and was wondering if it is normal to average 23 MPG? As most of you probably know the window sticker had significantly higher estimates. Can I expect better MPG once the motor has more miles on it or should I just mark it up to the wife having a heavy foot?

Thanks for feedback!

That is low. I average almost 28, and have been getting close to 33 on the highway. Either your wife does a lot of stop and go driving, or she has a heavy foot also. However, I sometimes drive mine like I stole it also.

I get around 26 mpg in normal mixed driving and around 34 on the highway. I don't do any strictly city driving.

Default Milage....

I've filled up twice since I bought mine. City only is 20. I doubt I'll do any better with regular gas. My 97 El Dorado gets about 18, maybe a little less. However, it gets 28 highway. If my seats don't feel any better, I doubt I'll drive it on the road to see what highway miles I get.

This is very close to what we get in suburban/expressway driving. We recently returned from a driving vacation and averaged 29 mpg over all, nearly 33 on the way home on flat interstate highways.

We have been averaging 28 in town and 32-33 on the highway. No complaints on milage here.

ES mileage is very good...my RL truely gets 26MPG on the highway. There are some that claim as much as 29 MPG. Typically around town I get a true 20 MPG...never less

My ES350 gets 25 MPG 25% at local, 75% on highway and with AC on at all time.
It's MUCH better than my previous GS300.

Heres what I got. My AVG is 22.6 and i haven't reset it since June. That would be for the 9000 ish miles I drove during the 5 month period. I would say about 65% of the driving is City.

The one time I drove highway from Miami to Gainesville which to be exact was 327 miles I got 30 TANK AVG because I was going around 80 on avg.

The few times that I take my ES350 to help out at my parents restuarant .... doing food delivery for an entire day + lots of stop signs and leaving the car running!!!!!!! I get like 16 MPG.

Right now I checked my TANK AVG and its at 24--- 40% City/60% Highway.

MY ES350 has averaged 25.9 over the 6500 miles I have driven it. This includes about only 10 - 15% on limited access (freeway) highway driving.

The bulk of the miles are commuting in moderate traffic, with about 25 traffic signals in my 12 mile, 30 minute commute.

By comparison, my ES300 (2003) knocked down no more than 20 under the same drive.

How could you not love 65 more horespower, and 30% better mileage?

I do love it! This was a major factor in my purchase of this car.

You guys be careful about the mpg displays. Many have found them to be "optimistic" by a couple of mpg. I use old-fashioned math to calculate my mileage figures.

Bingo. Mine is always about 1.5 mpg optimistic. I get 25/33 mpg actual. I like the computer numbers much better though.

What kind of town do you drive in that you can get 28 mpg--one w/ no stoplights and very little traffic...or are you typically driving around town at or near highway speeds?

All the posts are very encouraging. We just have over 200 miles on the new ES350 and are getting about 17mpg actual. If the weather holds up, we will work it out with about a 800 mile road trip over thanksgiving. we are looking forward to the numbers that you all are getting as the car breaks in.

The computer says 24.6 mpg combined and highway has been a pretty consistent 32.7 mpg. I didn't really look at fuel economy until I had 5K miles on the car. I use 87 octane, 93 had no noticeable effect on my MPGs.
