Replace Brakes?
Brought car to dealer because of odd, hard-to-explain noise when braking. Kind of like a tugging sound, happens maybe 50% of the time. Worried the sound will get worse and eventually the brakes will just give out, resulting in an accident. Last checkup maybe four months ago, the tech rated the rear brake linings at 9 (plenty of pad left). The tech told me the tugging sound is caused by rust on the rotors, so he recommended replacing the rear rotors and rear brake pads. The mechanic seemed like he knew what he was talking about, so I gave the go-ahead. Long story short, after he replaced the brake pads and rotors, I still get the same braking noises about half the time when braking. Braking works perfectly fine except for that odd sound around 50% of the time while braking. Reviewing my records, only four months ago, the dealership tech checked all my brake linings and rotors, rating the rear brake pads at 9 and no talk about any rust on the rear rotors, and the front brake pads were rated at 10 and no front rotor rust. What would be my best course of action, other than just telling the dealership the problem still exists?
