2003 ES300 Taillight Conversion/Chrome Delete
Hey guys,
I have an 03 ES300 and had been wanting to change the taillights to the newer style 05-07 ES taillights that don't have the chrome piece on the side. I searched forums and couldn't find a direct way to swap them without doing some wiring.
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried doing a chrome delete on the 02-04 style taillights? I've seen people take apart headlights and taillights to do chrome deletes on other cars but I haven't seen any for an ES. If you guys have any ideas, insights, or comments please let me know. Thank You!
For reference, I've included a picture of the chrome part of the taillight I'm referring to.

And this is the newer style of taillight I want. I'd also be perfectly happy just being able to remove the chrome part on mine.

Hello,
Here is a post about putting post-facelift taillights in a pre-facelift car, which looks like a bolt-on option. Trunk lights look like they have the same wiring as the old ones, so they should be plug-and-play, but rest of the wiring is indeed a little different. Good news is that the old wiring has connectors with regular Toyota terminals, so it appears that if you can find a fitting connector housing for 2005 taillight wiring, you will be able to re-pin all the old terminals into just one connector required for the newer lights without cutting anything, the list of all connector housings used in Toyota vehicles and the process on how to re-pin a connector can be found here.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
