2003 ES300 tail light upgrade to 2005
I have just replaced my tail lights on my 2003 ES300 with the next generation of tail lights of a 2005 model. Australian version.
The lights on the boot (trunk for my Atlantic friends!) has an extra red light. What is it and how do I make it work? The connector was the same as existing so i thought/hoped it would just work. The wiring for the outer lights on the body work had to be patched and work fine but I cannot find any info on the boot lights anywhere. Any ideas?

I have an 05 es330 and my trunk only has one parking light and the reverse light. The other part where the brake light is has a side marker light and then the main brake light plus the turn signal. Not sure what other light there would be

i really dont like the 2003 tail lights either. I think they really look cheap and didnt match the look of the car. Same goes for the head lights. I much more prefer the stock head lights and tail lights on my 2005 verses the 2003.

I'd say it's most likely a fog light. In Europe it is required to have a rear fog light. When we had our 92 in Prague a long time ago (thats a long story, lol) we had to modify the rear lights and add a fog light. So maybe you have lights with the fog light already in them?

I'm having difficulty loading an image of my car (I'm a newbie!) but this link shows you what it looks like. http://www.thecarconnection.com/phot...2005#100275098

OK, solution! I checked the bulb in the "extra" light on the boot and it is 5w. It is there in e new lights Josh but not in the old ones. That was the original question remember!
As the bulbs are 5w, they must be simply tail lights so I have pulled a feed from each of the licence plate lights and yay! When the lights are on, so are the additional tail lights. Looking forward to seeing the new nighttime lit signature.
Not sure anyone actually helped but thanks to all anyway.
