Cracks in the body? I'm not sure what you mean by this. Cracks in the paint maybe? Can you post a pic?

Are you the original owner? My company bought my work van with 1,900 miles but apparently it was hit on the side previously. The company did a great job repairing it to the point that I couldn’t tell it was repaired. A year and a half later this winter I got a little crack like that which has spread. On my van apparently they applied body filler (bondo) which separated from the metal and cracked. If you aren’t the original owner that panel was previously repaired.

I am not the original owner so this is definitely a possibility which I havent thought about...I checked the carfax before I bought it and it was clear but I am aware that the carfax doesnt capture everything,I own it for about 8 years and this started cracking about 2-3 months ago.

That could be the issue. Paint doesn’t really crack, it’s a few coats over metal. Lexus had issues with there white paint flaking off the cars back then bought the paint separated into chunks usually exposing green primer underneath.

That looks like cracked body filler to me.

That’s bondo for sure.

Take a magnet to the area. If it sticks weakly then it is probably body filler.

Ask the opinion of a local body shop. They could just be bad scratches.
However, there is not much to do, it is not worth investing much money into it to repaint the area unless it is touch-up paint. Maybe a detail shop could make it look better.
