Default Adding Contacts to Navigation/phone system

This 2018 ES350 is new to me. I have been trying to Add Contacts to the system. It appears to only offer me the option of transferring all of my contacts from my iPhone-8. This is undesirable as I have ~2000 contacts and few need to be here. There appears to be no option to Add a single contact. For my car phone I want to have a limited number with the ability to add and delete as needed. The manual says there is a screen page with Add and Edit but my system does show that screen. The local dealer says the manual is wrong and the transfer of all is my only option. This would be stupid software design. Is the dealer correct? Does Lexus have any plans to update the OS? They built a car to last 10-20 years but this 2018 has a OS that was maybe average in 2010. At this point the phone, navigation and voice recognition are worthless. I assume the aftermarket Apple Plays would void lots of warrantees. Your thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.
