ENFORM & Remote Start
I know this topic is so dragged out but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for.
Anyways, We recently upgraded to a brand new (practically brand new thing only has 10k miles, lol) 17' ES. It has the remote start through the fob without an active Enform subscription (the services have expired). Our car is a non navigation model so I was pretty surprised when it started through the fob. If we happen to purchase the Safety Connect and Remote subscription when the 3g network system for the ES is no longer supported will the remote system be cancelled as a whole? (I know some different MY's had their key fob start cancelled after their subscription was cancelled). Just curious if it's worth it to activate a subscription now for a year then have the system deactivated as a whole, because if we are going to lose our fob activated remote start then we wont be purchasing the plan, lol.
Also, it says our car has a limited service campaign for GPS offset warning, curious if it's worth it to have the dealer update the system if the 3G system is going to be shut down after October, 2022.
Also, our 17' is MILES ahead of our 09' we sold for this. Should've made the switch much earlier lol.

I have no idea why your remote start with the fob is still working if you don't have a paid subscription for the Enform app. Remote start for my 2017 ES stopped working when I discontinued the paid subscription.
I've seen a few posts from people who say that their fob remote start still works without the paid subscription. When I see those posts, I go outside just to confirm that mine isn't working, and it still doesn't work.
My suggestion would be that, unless you have some special need to start your car from a greater distance, you should just leave things the way they are. The remote start via the smart phone app has never worked especially well. In the past, there have been extended periods of time when the app hasn't worked at all.
So, I'd suggest that you just leave well alone and be happy that you can, at least, start your car with the fob.

We are just going to leave it be and keep the fob remote start only EVEN though the distance on the fob absolutely sucks when trying to remote start the engine, lol.

I checked some more. On the '17 ES 350, only units with the Navigation system also came with Enform Remote Services, including the Lexus Enform Remote Application.
So your vehicle may have come with a factory installed remote starter or an aftermarket remote starter was installed by the first owner.
To find out if it was factory installed, sign up for the free lexusdrivers.com account. In signing up, you give your vin number. Then you can see your window sticker and determine if it was factory install.
Either way, fresh key-fob batteries help increase range.
