Default Help with Replacing Front Lateral arm

Hi there. I can't seem to get into my other account but hello anyway, and thanks in advance.

My right rear front larteral arm is bent and I need to replace it. I'm hoping someone has done this before and that there is some kind of "how to" video or even a guide.

There's a lot of rust in and around the area so it'll be a challenge but I'd like to go in with a plan.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ooops sorry didn't look. A few days ago I replaced the rear subframe on a 1993 Camry so the setup is fresh in my mind (your car is almost the same). If I'm reading the parts diagram correctly your car differs in respect to the bolt that holds the lateral arms to the knuckle. See here.

The bolt 90901-19001 goes through the knuckle and holds both lateral arms to the knuckle. Meaning, removing this bolt is almost impossible unless the car has never seen road salt. Also not sure if the subframe has to be dropped to get 90901-09001 out, this bolt holds on both lateral arms to the subframe it is long.

I've done what this guy does, it's a Subaru but has the same "long bolt" problem as you. edit- I don't have a plasma cutter but I cut the bolt on both ends then drive it out.

That looks like quite a challenge. What's the bolt at the other end going to be like, because it looks like it goes all the way through to the adjustable lateral arm as well?

Is it the sort of thing you could heat and bend back into shape, and even so, would it be better than not doing it at all? Right now it doesn't pull or shake but the rear tyres wear out faster than the front and the steering wheel is not quite centred when travelling straight.

One option you have is grabbing a used knuckle with the arms attached and bolt that into your car. On that long bolt, the 1993 I did supposedly had the same thing but in fact there is a nut on each end so you can remove either lateral arm without pounding out the bolt. Maybe your car is the same? But beware you might break the bolt/stud off trying to remove the nut. This is a problematic design either way.

To answer your question yes that bolt holds both lateral arms on to the knuckle, like I said on the 1993 Camry it is actually a stud with nuts on each end that's why I'm wondering if your car is the same. The parts diagram is not always 100% in how it depicts the various components. If you attempt the repair if possible hit the fasteners with penetrating oil many times over the course of a few days this does work. Spraying a couple times does little to nothing.
