Cool Fuel door closure

2000 ES300 fuel door won't stay closed. Locking pin missing after adding gas with a gas can.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong.... Fuel Door Hinge Spring

Genuine OEM P/N - Toyota 77360-33020 Fuel Filler Opening Lid Hinge Spring

As you can see in the picture, there isn’t much that can go wrong or missing.

The spring is Part #7 in the picture.

The spring is not the problem.. my spring is still in place. It appears that the button on the other side of the fuel door is not popping out to hold the door closed, or it is missing. The dealer ordered the spring thinking my problem was that the door would not open, and a spring replacement would fix it. But my issue is that the door will not stay closed.

Electric release 77030-33030 went bad or sticking? I'm quite familiar with the mechanism since I used it to make an electric trunk release for my '90 Camry. Check the manual release pull (it's part of the electric release) in the trunk maybe it's hung up on something.

Thanks for showing up.

I searched that PN to learn a little something and found that the top searches fed back said it was a “Discontinued Product” and “No Longer Available For Purchase”. I could not find a parts house (using English) that sold them and I find that a little hard to believe. BTW, Lexus in Russian is “лексус”.

Do you have a link to a supplier?
I knew the Release was part of the plausible possibilities, but “after using a gas can” is when it happened,

Easy to find at a salvage yard, or amayama.com might have it.

I can probably source one of these if the OP can't find one for a reasonable price.
