I can't say that's been my experience... I've had my Pirelli's on since Nov. of 2016, about 16K miles driven on them and I honestly havent noticed any "rides like they are on ice in the rain". Now having said that I don't drive my car hard and can't recall ever having to slam on the brakes on the rain... Also I live in the south so no driving in any kind of winter weather. So far I like my tires.. I'm also a big fan of Michelin tires ( except for the inflated costs )

check which car the people are rating the tires from.

you have to note that ES drivers tend to drive their cars under 70 mph, so any tire will be good as long as there's not a lot of noise. No hard acceleration, no high speed maneuvers, no spirited driving of any sort on our ES.

I'd like to see the link to this data. I've had mine for a couple years and have never experienced what you mentioned. My OEM Bridgestones were terrible in the rain. It was hard just getting away from a stop-light.

I've also read reviews about the pirellis like that so they are out there, now my decision came down to the P7+ and the continental dws 06 and I went with the dws 06. They should arrive today and hopefully I can get them put on

I also find real world reviews more valuable than a one-off comparison test done several years ago.

The Perellis rate just above the Michelins. All the tires rated higher than these two have too few reviews for me to consider valid.

I have always been a Michelin man, but if I was in the market right now for tires, I would be considering the Continental PureContact LS. The tirerack reviews are generally favorable, and perhaps a little better than for the Michelin.

From my experience, it's too early to look at Tire Rack's ratings on that new of a tire. They're included in my post above yours, in the link. They only show 194k miles reviewed, which is low. The P7+ AS has 14M. All the ratings above them have milage in the K's. The current top rated in the category is the Michelin CrossClimate+, but only shows 88K miles.

This is how their ratings always work. The newer the tire is in the market, the higher it is ranked.

Which type do you personally own?

You do understand that reviews are for ones own personal conclusions?

The P7's traction will only get worst as they wear down.

Like to hear what you think about the dws 06, especially noise wise.

And yes the neg reviews about the P7 and wet, steered me away from them. Especially the Braking distance. Some like them, some don't.

If the OP drives 100 miles a day I'd go with the P7+ as they're rated to 70,000 mile tread life. Much more than most. They're grand touring tires, they aren't really all that comparable to the DWS06 since those are ultra high performance tires. Price wise they are comparable though. But the DWS06 are rated to 50,000 miles.

- I own the P7 AS+

- Reviews are a tool to help you make an educated decision.

- I have no problem at all with traction in any weather with my Perelis. The OEM Bridgestones were horrible in rain and snow.

Maybe it has something to do with the weight distribution on the ES, vs the BMW, but I don't know. This is why one off reviews don't hold much weight with me.

Albo, I had the older Continental DWS's on my last vehicle. They were great tires, but seem to wear quickly. I'm not sure what the differences are between them and the DWS 06, but I'm sure they're much better than the OEM's.

The OEMs are trash, and Its beyond my comprehension how they can be over $220 each. After the continentals if I dont like them I'll try the p7+. It was a close decision considering they were same price. I get DWS06 on Saturday morning.

Very happy with them so far. The steering feels much more impressive and otherwise no increase in road noise or anything of that sort.

Is the P7 AS+ different than the ones rated?

How do you fell about how they handle?
