Reverse lights not working
My reverse lights not working on my 98 Lexus ES300. All wiring checked and ok. All new bulbs replaced. Where is the back up control switch and what does it look like
The backup switch is part of the neutral safety switch on the front of the transmission. Check to see if the reverse portion of the PRND2L lights up when you put the car in reverse if it does then check for damaged/frayed wires in the trunk where it bends.
Have you checked the fuse or the voltage at the bulbs?
The Neutral Safety Switch is located on the transmission directly below the starter. In order to gain easier access, remove the cold air intake (which is directly behind the battery). by doing so you should gain enough space to be able to service/replace it. Keep in mind that once you remove the old one and replace it with a new one, you will still have to adjust the switch so it will line up with the corresponding electrical connections for the switch to function properly.
