Default Harmonic Balancer

Is the bolt for the harmonic balancer a left or right thread?

It's normal (I always get mixed up as to which is called which). Unscrews counterclockwise.

If you're asking because it won't come off even with whatever uber-powerful impact wrench you have, they tend to do that. Apply heat - not enough to glow cherry red, and keep the source away from the balancer rubber unless you like replacing these. Just enough to futz with the threadlocker. On reassembly, retorque to 159 ft-lbs, you don't need threadlocker.

The bolt comes off counter clockwise. Have you not checked youtube or shop manual?

Yoda green thread-lock is a beast.
On a Camry I stuck the breaker bar at 90° to the CS with a block of wood under it for support. Hit the starter. 3X. The 3rd time it came loose.
This is after splitting 2 sockets Craftman and 6 point impact Mac tools. And heating and cross drilling into the shank 2 holes to feed penetrating lube in. Starter did it. Be sure to disable FI or Ign.
And ya, the car jumped in the air a bit... lol

Lol! I used a huge breaker bar, 1 ft I think. Then put on 5ft pipe about and that broke it loose with ease.

When I couldn't get the bolt off on my old '99 ES, I tried the starter bump method and it lifted the whole car with a fresh battery. Ended up using a MAPP torch on the bolt, and after a minute of that it zipped right off with an electric impact.

My experience, if the bolt had been removed before, then the starter method would work.
If the bolt has never been removed before (i.e. from factory), then the starter method might not work. Use an impact wrench.
