Default Warranty Question

I have a 2015 ES 350 with only 6200 miles. It apparently had the 6 month check up with 700 miles, i bought the car with 3000 miles. I called my local Lexus dealer regarding the 10,000 mile check up they got pretty nasty about the car only having 6000 miles saying it was to late being the car is 2 years old.

Obviously a Lexus dealer is ridiculous expensive even for a oil change. My question is can i just take my car to my local ASE certified mechanic to have my Lexus worked on being the car is still under factory warranty.I am only talking about maintenance not a part or problem that would be under warranty.

whoa, drive. the. car. man lol meanwhile here I have a 2015 ES with 43k lol.

so basically the vehicle is out of the maintenance warranty period, so they wont cover it under warranty right? which is more than fair imho, guess they needn't have to be nasty about it though.
i read in this forums that some people just bring it to toyota dealer which was pretty cheap, and bringing it to any mechanic wouldnt be a problem at all, why would it be lol.

people do it on their own all the time, es doesnt require anything special with its oil changes, and remember, it is the same exact car under the hood with toyota avalon.

Yes, you can take your car to ANY reputable shop for an oil change. It doesn't have to be an ASE mechanic. You can also go to a Toyota dealership.

If you don't like the attitude of your Lexus dealer, don't use them.

But a lot of this is just who you deal with. I had a service advisor that was a ***** and I just asked to get a new one. New guy was great. Same dealership.

I will say this, if your car is still under Lexus factory warranty, I personally would recommend getting things like an oil change at a Lexus dealership in that time period in case something goes wrong, that way they can't point any fingers. It also makes sure they are using the right oil and factory oil filters, etc.

Legally, they cannot deny you a warranty repair going outside the dealership unless they can prove your outside service was to blame, but practically speaking, you don't want to go through that process if say a major engine repair was necessary.
To me it's cheap insurance, and I'm usually someone that changes their own oil.

Not true everywhere. My service at Lexus was 5 bucks more than the Toyota quote. I would say- at least investigate and use the dealer when / if you can. However plenty on this forum use Toyota or their own mechanic. I'm just quoting my experience.

I have a 2015 ES300h, purchased new, that now has 34,500 miles. I search the internet for Lexus dealer oil and filter coupons, throughout the United States, and present them to my local dealer. Yesterday, they did my synthetic oil and filter and wash for $61.61 including tax. I enjoyed a cafe mocha and the latest Trump news during the one hour it took.

Absolutely you can take it somewhere else... but if I were you I would keep the receipt for the oil change with your maintenance records, just to prove you had it done, should any oil related issues ever show up.. Those ( oil issues ) are very rare with todays cars, but again, keep the receipt, better safe than sorry.

The 2015 ES is pretty much the same as the 2015 Avalon so basic maintenance would be something Toyota dealerships can do.
