Default Turn signal question please.

On my 2015 ES350 I gently push up or down (right or left) on the turn signal stalk to make a lane change and the turn signal clicks three times and then turns off (lane change feature, which I like very much). My manual seems to indicate there may be a way to change the three clicks to as many as seven clicks for a lane change before turning off...can anyone tell me how to accomplish such a change? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, it's not a setting that's accessible from the usual menus. You either need to have the dealer change it, do it yourself with a Techtool install and the right cable, or use an OBD app like Carista. I wonder why Toyota didn't make simple stuff like this user customizable.

It is a setting that's accessible on the 2016, so are you sure it's not available on the 2015?

I have a 2016 and don't see this as an option on the settings screen. However, I did change the signal from 3 to 5 flashes with Carista.

Some 3IS owners were using this procedure if they didn't have Carista or time for a service appointment. I don't know if it works on the ES but it might be worth a try?

Follow this procedure. It may take a couple of times to get it right, but it works.

1.) Ignition off, doors closed
2.) Hold the wiper switch in the full up position. (this is the wiper off position)
3.) While holding the wiper switch in the full up position, turn the IG on. (two presses of the start/stop switch)
4.) Hold wiper switch in the full up position for 5 seconds
5.) Move the wiper switch down one "click" or "notch", hold for 5 seconds
6.) Move the wiper switch back to the full up position, hold for 5 seconds
7.) Move the wiper switch down one "click" or "notch". hold for 5 seconds (same position as step 5)
8.) Move the wiper switch back to the rest position (neutral)

If this was done correctly, the right turn signal will flash once.

To adjust how many flashes you want, you change the intermittent wiper speed switch. P1 starts with the speed switch all the way at the bottom, P4 will be the top speed. This is found on the wiper stalk.

P1: 3 blinks
P2: 5 blinks
P3: 7 blinks
P4: Function turned off

Set the intermittent wiper speed to the desired setting.

Use the Turn Signal stalk and push down like you want to activate the left turn signal, the flashers should activate

If the turn signal blinks once, you change it to the "3 flashes" setting
If the turn signal blinks twice, you changed it to the "5 flashes" setting
If the turn signal blinks three times, you changed it to the "7 flashes" setting
If the turn signal blinks four times, you turned the function off.

Once this is done, cycle the ignition switch off, and back on, and it should be changed.

try this several times on my 2013 ES and it did not work. Called the dealer and they said the only way it can be change is through the dealer. The standard setting is three and can be adjusted to 5 or 7 or off.

Oh well, it was worth a shot.

I believe the default setting was 5 in 2013. I had it changed to 3 at my free 5k visit.

According the Lexus pdf for the 2013 ES Personalized Settings, the default is 3.

It is number 38 in the pdf.

Then I must have changed it from 3 to 5! First time I've been wrong this year.

Thanks for the clarification!
