I have a 2011 ES350 ... Looked in the manual, but can't find this... Does the nav screen have capability to adjust the route? Was ion an expressway near Chicago on my way to Elk Grove
village and the voice kept directing me on a different route. Any feedback would be appreciated!

 

Most nav systems will offer up at least two different routes to a destination. One will be the fastest route based on travel time and not necessarily the distance. The other will be the shortest route based strictly on distance. Your system may be set for the fastest route and you were taking the shortest route. Hence the attempts to redirect you. Just a guess though...

when u are in guidance mode, press menu and there is a button saying suspend guidance. when u press that u are back to map. u can then go back to menu and press button resume guidance and hopefully it will tweak to the right way.

worst case end the route and set the destination again.

Do what I did, get a Garmin and some velcro.

Wish they had devoted all the time making 3,254 speaking commands that I never use into better colors on the display and good guidance.

 

Personally, I already know where I need/want to go before I get to my final destination. I use the NAV in the car to basically see the "Surrounding" streets. Basically, a map.

I don't use the "Find a gas station" type of features. I don't need any of the voice commands. I grew up and got my first driver's license in Manhattan. Living and driving there and in New Jersey, you basically can't get lost. No matter where you're driving. If I have a specific address I need to find, I put that in prior to the drive and I get there.

But that's just me. The Nav is convenient and helpful. But I don't drive "In the Blind" where I need a GPS to get me some place. Give me the map function and I'll know what part of town I'm heading to before I get there.
