Default Rear Window Screen

Thanks to you all for your patience with me. My car has the rear window screen button on the lower left side of the steering wheel, along with the trunk release and gas door release. When I push that button, I think I hear a motor running but I see no screen coming up or down. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to program it someway? I don't see how it could be broken as the previous owner didn't even use the back seat. The plastic was still on the mats and seat. Seems like it should be easy to figure out. I looked at the book but it didn't really say much. Thanks again!

How so?

I had two ES350's and always seemed to find answers to what I was looking for. If not it was something obscure and I had to check around a bit. Can you imagine how big that thing would be if every eventuality was included?

UPDATE: I discovered what I was doing wrong. Hitting the wrong button as I couldn't see it very well. DUMMY!!
I tried it today and it worked perfectly. Of course, we don't have many people ride in the back seat anyway. It could be used when parking out in the hot West Texas sun , I guess. Thanks for your answers. Still figuring out stuff on this car.

I think it was the trunk! However, I would hear some motor running and that is why I thought it was for the shade. They are kind of low compared to my Caddy. JUst learning about this car.
