Default XM Traffic issue

I have about 5000 miles on my ES300h. So far we like the car. We previously had the HS. One problem seems to be that the XM traffic isn't doing what the HS250h XM traffic did. On the HS when there was traffic ahead you got a the red warning on the dash (in the little traffic square) AND you got an audio response ie: "10 miles ahead slow traffic for 2 miles". On the new ES I get an audio response that says "slow traffic 1 mile ahead" and no indication how backed up the traffic is. Also sometimes the audio doesn't kick in until I'm almost at the slow down (The red warning is generally on, but without the audio you really have no idea where the slowdown is or how bad it is). I had XM reset my system several times but that didn't change anything. They suggested that the traffic app needed to be updated, which I discovered can't be done except at the dealer. I took the car in this morning and the service tech was unfamiliar with the problem but wrote it all down on my service paperwork. I am hopeful they will have a fix when I get the car later today. Has anyone had this issue (which is pretty obvious if you had a HS prior). Also find that the 39/40mpg is overstated, atleast in major city/ highway driving. While I can sometimes get 40mpg when I am on a reasonable flat highway without start and stop driving, once I get back into more normal driving situations, my averages drops back to mid 30's (which is only about 3 miles better than the HS which advertised around 33mph combined).

I have the ES350 and in the Map screen on the left side where the GPS status is there is box that turns red when there are traffic issues. Selecting it will give you more information.

I use the WAZE app on my iPhone an the traffic information is much better and more timely.

Seems like Lexus messed up whole bunch of stuff with the new ES model. This is reminding of Microsoft windows more and more. I'm sure you all remember how newer versions had stuff broken which worked with previous versions and vise versa.

We have a new Audi that has Google maps, traffic, POI's etc. I'm not sure yet how well the traffic works but it's there. I was not impressed with the accuracy of Sirius/XM traffic.

I have to agree that this version of Lexus ES and Sirius/XM Traffic isn't too good. I don't get the audio traffic alerts and only displays it if I select the Traffic Incident app. I never know if there's bad traffic up ahead, but perhaps that's because we have bad traffic here most times.

On that note, I now have over 3,000 miles and I'm averaging about 40 mpg combined city/hwy. I took the cue from another CL member about watching the milage bars on the Navi and adjusting my throttle, speed and coasting to keep it above the 40 mark, and it seems to be working pretty good. On this tank (at around 400 miles), the computer is showing about 41.2 mpg, which would be more like 40 mpg when you do the math with the actual fill up. This is the highest I've gotten so far if I keep an eye on those bars.
