The front strut brace just adds more rigidity to the front frame of the car, basically, adding a supporting structure to a box-like dimension. It is easy to install.
It kills body roll. Let's say you see a stock ES taking a turn really quickly -- the body of the car will move to one side, while the tires stay on the ground, exposing a lot of wheel gap. With the strut bar, the body hardly rolls at all, making qiuck turns much more comfortable.

amen to that, i attest! (read my thread). The $40 strut bar sold on E-bay by a particular guy has some problems. Feel free to ask questions if you are going to buy one from him.
madmadrid, that bar looks exactly like the one i have. if they are the same, then that bar will absolutely hit the plenum intake and make a really unpleasant clunking sound in some gears, and almost always when you put the car in reverse.

Geez, how bad is that with the autos? I've never had that problem - glad I have the 5 speed.
