Thanks, I did check the glove box switch. I did not know the button was even there on the trunk lid until I saw a friend open his avalon's trunk by pushing a button. I was happy when I found the hidden button but when I push it nothing happens and I had the key fob in my hand.

I assume you know you have to have the "key" in your pocket and must hold the button for a few seconds before it will open.

I tried again just now, key in my pocket pushed the button for 10 seconds nothing happend, took the key out of my pocket and pushed the trunk button and it opened. I'm thinking maybe a trip to the dealer is in order.

I believe there is a dealer set option to have the trunk button function with either one-touch or two-touch and I think the default may be two-touch. I had mine set for a single touch I believe.

Try both and see if it makes a different. Also try push-and-hold.

can u confirm that your key fob works in SmartAccess mode (ie doors opens when u touch door handle with the fob in your pocket)? the reason i ask is that there is a customisation to turn Smart Access on and off, and SmartAccess may also control the trunk lid button (not the key fob button). ie the trunk lid button works when Smart Access is enabled and does not work when SmartAccess is disabled.

Use SmartAccess (touch door handle) or remote buttons. (Standard)= On
