My 2007 ES 350 is just over 5 years old. Mileage is just greater than 37K. Vehicle has been excellent; however, within the last 6 months a rattle/squeek has developed in the dash right side. Pushing the dash towards the windshield from the glove box opening with the door open corrects the problem for a short time. But if the road gets just a little rough, the noise comes right back. I've tried wedging thin cardboard shims at the top of the glove box opening, but so far this hasn't totally solved the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I notice when installing leds under the dashboard that the lower panel trim that covers the vents motor and ducts have wires dangling that can hit the lower cover. simply tap on the lower cover under the passenger side and you will notice clinging noise, even though it is foamed. The solution would be to squeeze a foam or styrofoam sheet over the lower cover to absorb the clinging noise. Fortunately, mine doesn,t make noise under there, but it coiuld be a solution.
My guess is with time, some pieces get loose.
Under the passenger side, the only moving pieces are: the filter cover, the glove compartement door, the lower panel under the glove compartment, that is pretty much it.
Use hose, really
My lexus is 2007.
I had the same problem on 34000 miles
Somewhere here on the forum i found advice - use hose)
I tried - it works. Now it has 39000 miles and it is still silent. I tested it during whole winter, will test it in hot summer - then fully drown it.
The fix took 30 minutes.
My advice:
1. use black/grey hose ( i used white because of exterior, and i can see it, but who don't know - don't see it)
2. cut length precisely
3. leave hole in hose for vin number
4. put it in hot water before pushing, it makes hose significantly softer

Blueshark,
outside - not
inside - yes, a little, because
1. it is not fully pushed down ( i'm still testing it)
2. i know about it
3. it is white ( will replace by grey one after this summer)
as i already noticed - my passengers even don't suspect it.
There is a TSB for that. I recently had it performed on my 07 - 45,000 miles. They found the clips for the dash on backwards, cushioning side not where it should be and more importantly they found the passenger air bag connectors banging against support structures for the bag. When those two items were fixed rattle is completely gone. And yes, the dash had to come out to effect the fix. Not an easy job, they kept the car for two days.

Which TSB is this? How much did it cost you? Thanks

It does if you're not under the original factory warranty. I have an extended warranty on my 2007 with 50,000 miles. TSB's are not covered under the extended warranty
