Default Fuel Pump Failure??

Hey all, I am curious if my fuel pump is going bad. I drove my car today, turned it off, sat there for about 15 min, came back to start my car, and it would start, then die, start then die. pumped the gas pedal a couple times, started it again and had to pump the pedal to keep it going for a few seconds. Then it ran fine. Havent had this happen before. I have noticed at high speeds, it has a slight "kick" once in a while, or when starting at a stop light, it will go, then feel like it cuts out for a millisecond, then keep on driving. Is this a fuel pump? Fuel filter? Is the fuel filter hard to replace? I have a 96 ES 300!! Let me know!!
