My SC3 has been given me problems. When I start the car, the fuel pump runs for about one second,... quits, ... and then the car dies.

Turn off the key, turn it back on, start the car, it cranks up, fuel pump runs for one second, quits, ...and the car dies from no fuel. Repeat.

If I do this about ten times, the car will eventually start and run, and NOT die. I can drive it all over, with no problems. Fuel pump runs fine. But, if I kill it, ....I'll have the same problem.

I orginally thought it was the fuel filter, ..do I changed it. I was about to change the pump, when I decided to test it and see if/when it was working. Now I know its coming on, and then turning off.

What might cause this?

 

maybe your fuel pump ecu is fried? Thats wat happened on my car. Are you running a stock motor?

 

Its stock. If it was fried, why would it eventually crank up, and run great?

 

Intermittent fault. There could be a broken contact in the ECU that when cold the contracts constrict and fail to make good contact, After amperage flows through it it warms up and expands to make contact. That's one possibility.

 

Great. Can I bypass the ecu, and run 12v switch power, with a relay?

Dont I need to do something like this, anyway, if I install a Wallbro high flow pump. Im planning on putting one soon,

I went outside and bypassed the ecu, at the harness. The car starts every time. Problem solved.

 

How did you bypass it?
