Default Cold Air Intake

I'm new to this forum, and I'm kind of noob at this stuff, so I have a question about cold air intakes.

I have a 2001 ES300 and I'm planning on modding it. I want to put a cold air intake in it, but there are some things i'm skeptical about. Will my check engine light come on? Would you recommend any brand to go with? What else should I do to my car? Anything to suggest?.

drop in a cold air and it will most likely trigger a CEL. A member did it on his '01 and same thing happened.

If you want sound, cut out a section of the bottom on the airbox and remove all the unnecessary resonators. I have to 'clean up' my 2min. 'mod' this spring and do it right.

I would agree with fatboypup and just drop in a K&N air filter. You can purchase or order one from O'Reilly/Kragen auto parts...

From what Ive read the Weapon R intake is the only system that will work with the dual throttle 1MZ. Can anyone verify this ?

I know there was one manufacture by CPE but I not sure if it works with that set up.

why can it not work for vvti dual throttle?
i would go with k&n but i just love the roar sound of the intake so taking my chances, have tried going back to stock airbox but code p0171 still persists
tried 2 different used afm, still no go

That kinda sucks, i was looking forword to getting a cold air intake but after reading this nvm now. I think i will just do the k&n drop in. Has anyone actually noticed a difference with the k&n?

i put a cold air intake on my 2004 es330, its weapon r and its not legal here but it works perfect and no light ever came on. You just gotta make sure that the intake you get is specifically for your car so that your sensors match up to the new unit
