Airbag light

I mentioned this before but I just spoke with someone regarding this. My wife's 2005 ES330 has an airbag light on it. The person I spoke with mentioned something about seatbelt latches failing. Just wondering what anyone else might know about this or other things which may cause the airbag light to come on. I'm hoping it's not something ridiculously expensive to fix since I've got to have the timing belt changed at the same time.

Taking it to a dealer isn't really an option since they'll charge an arm and a leg.

What is your in service date, and how many miles are on the car? The Air Bag system warranty is the same as powertrain. 6years 70,000 miles.

Good luck finding a mechanic that will work on your airbag issue. I had the same issue and I ended up having to take it to the dealership because it is too much of a liability for your 'normal' mechanic to work on.

Of course my airbag module (?) went out for some reason on my Lexus. That may not be your problem though.

Was your car ever involved in an accident?

Don't know the in-service date (bought it used and I can't locate the info at the moment), however, we have 80,000 miles on the car so it's out of warranty on that.

Not to my knowledge. We did buy it used but I see no evidence of any accident damage (been under the car more than once as well).
