I have noticed this awful creaking coming from the back of my car when I go over speed bumps and whatnot. I finally had a chance to take it to the dealership and they told me that It was the rear suspension bushings (or something to that effect). According to them, they don't make just the bushings, you have to replace the whole suspension bar (I can't remember the technical name for it). They wanted 1,600.00 and I don't really have that kind of money to spend.

Does anyone know of a company that makes just the bushings, and where I can find them?

is your vehicle still at the delaership? did you get a receipt on their diagnose, they usually describe what is wrong and list all the parts/labor thats involved. get that part# and see if you can find it cheaper.

 

Depending what bushings are bad, SuperPro in Australia makes many Poly bushings for our suspension that no one else does.

 

Don't fall for that! Lexus DID set everything up so that their owners would just replace bushing-containing suspension parts, but the aftermarket folks got wise and developed bushings that replace, and oftentimes improve upon, the OEM bushings.

I just replaced every bushing on my SC300 with Daizen bushings, and most (all? can't recall) of my suspension bushings on my '92 ES (2nd gen ES like yours) were replaced with R2 bushings.

i have a 97 (3rd gen) with the same noise from the back... what does it cost to fix the bushings?

 

^ It all depends on what bushings it is. Many times it;s the sway bar bushings which are around $15 for a pair at the dealer I think.

 

i had the same noise on my 93 es,i replace struts, strut mount and still had the same noise.then i replace the sway bar bushings,and no more noise.i would start with the sway bar bushings first.i got mine from carquest for $17.00.it work great,now i have to replace the one on the front.

Definitely!

 

It's 2 bolts on each bushing mount is all, in plain sight. There is 2 ways you can change them. Either put the rear of the car on ramps, and slid undoe, or jack up the rear of the car, and take the wheel, and they are right there. But you have to jack up the entire rear to get an even pressure on the sway bar if you do it that way.

 

I have the same problem but with the front suspension. I hear this noise on right and left. I was told by the mechanics that this is the shock absorber and they want 800$. I got those parts and replace it myself using instructions for GS300, it was similar.

But what is the cause of this noise? I think it may come from strut mounts, but there is sound coming from lower level of the car.

Please help.

 

Replace your sway bar bushings first.it's is inexpensive.that's what i will do first.

 

would you buy it from autozone or lexus dealer?
Is this a sway bar, they call it "stabilizer link"

autozone has it for 25$ but dealer 70$

And that is sway (stabelizer) bar link. It attaches the end of the sway bar to the strut.
