KK so I just changed my LT & RT axles and changed my wheels studs, which I took my knuckle and brake calipers off and now my brakes are not working. So my cousin said I had to bleed my brakes and to take it to a shop. Buttttt its me and I like to DIY so where do I start? What do I need to do? or is it something else?

 

There is a nipple valve on each caliper.

Google DIY brake bleed and you will find many links.

 

nipple valve? I don't know too much bout these parts of the car haha.

 

you have to bleed through the nipple. lol.
seriously though, its not hard, but its not easy if youve never seen anyone do it. while youre at it, i recommend speed bleeders, it will make your life simple, and allow you to do it yourself.

The nipple is right on the caliper. I believe it takes a 8mm or 10mm wrench. Make sure you soak the nipple with WD40 or other rust penetration fluid. And don't apply too much torque on the nipples or else you will twist them right off!!!!! They are sensitive...

 

yeah when you turn the nipple a little fluid should come out. What I did to bleed mine was had my brother pump the brakes a few times and then hold the brake down and I would turn open one of the nipples and let the fluid squirt out. You're trying to ensure you have no air in your brake lines. And I did that for all 4 sides and then checked and ensured I refilled the brake fluid under the hood. Then I checked all 4 sides again. Hope it helps bro.

LOL.. I know what you guys are talking about now. I took that bolt off and some fluid did come out. didn't know it was called a nipple. So I need to take that out and have someone pump my brakes?? or have it on and they pump my brakes then I take it out? Dirty but this thread is helping me fix it myself haha.

 

Just like Smitty said, get someone to pump the brake pedal a few times and hold the pressure. You loosen the nipple and brake fluid should come out as the brake pedal drops towards the floor slowly. Close the nipple before the brake pedal hits the floor. Then repeat for a few times. Meanwhile, after a few times, check the brake fluid reservoir and top it up with brake fluid. Don't let it suck in air.

And you don't have to completely remove the nipple...just loosen it.
