I do not appreciate your false accusation.
Then how come ALL the Lexus dealers, from the East Coast to the West Coast, show completely different packaging similar to the picture illustrated below?

What you're selling is a Nav DVD disc for a Toyota, not an OEM Lexus disc!

Will someone else in this forum help educate Alan?

Better yet, eject the DVD from your ES350 and look at it.

Ahem... I hate to break this to you, but Lexus *is* Toyota! Toyota markets their high-end vehicles in certain countries under the Lexus name rather than the Toyota name so they can appeal to different demographic groups via a different vehicle and dealership image. (It also enables them to increase profit margins on sales of their high-end cars.)

If look at the factory VIN plate affixed to your driver door jamb, you'll see "MFD BY TOYOTA CORP" written on it. You'll also see the Toyota "T" logo embossed all over the VIN plate affixed to your dash by the window, and "Toyota" stamped on virtually every part under the hood (take a look at the battery, radiator, fans, etc.). And, as someone pointed out, if you eject the Nav DVD from your system, you'll see it says "TOYOTA", not "Lexus" on it.

All the big manufacturers do it -- Honda has Acura, Nissan has Infiniti, GM has Cadillac, VW has Audi, Ford has Lincoln, etc.

Wow.....I didn't know that! I thought that Lexus vehicles were made in the North pole by elves.
Now, to be serious, I think you should re-read this complete thread, and you'll see that all I said was that this advertised disc was "NOT" an OEM Lexus Nav DVD!!!

I'll give you an example in another area of replacement parts, and you tell me why this is so? Some Lexus owners tried replacing their windshield wiper blades made for a Toyota Camry, at a Toyota Corporation dealer to save some $$, but there was a definite quality difference compared to the Lexus part. Hmmm.......

I will say this, my coworkers 4Runner limited (2007) has the same NAV system my ES has, except the screen is not as clear (a little fuzzy, probably a cheaper screen). But, I am sure the disk could be used in both systems.

Sorry to say....you're missing the whole point of this thread.

P.S. Do you think honestly think if you had a problem with this unauthorized disc that Lexus Corporation would consider this a warranty repair if something happens to your Nav system.........I don't think so?

No, I understand. I was just saying that I am sure that either a Toyota or Lexus disk would work in the ES NAV system. Maybe a Toyota dealer would sell it cheaper than a Lexus dealer??

I agree with you on boot leg copies, I would not use one either. The NAV system ain't cheap on these cars and the last thing I would want to do is something that would void the warranty.

There are many areas of using replacement parts that Lexus considers before they validate a warranty repair, even though a said part is also manufactured by them(Toyota). This also holds true for using OEM Camry brakes parts in your Lexus!

OK, this is really getting stupid. I've examined Lexus nav disks in great detail. They contain information to allow them to function in ANY Toyota product - Scion, Toyota, or Lexus - they are not specific to any product line and if you look at the executables you'll see it.

So stop with the BS speculation there is some inherent difference - there isn't. This is a legitimate disk and will work in any Gen V Lexus nav.

Perhaps so, but I would challenge anyone to argue that there's a definite quality difference between a "Lexus"-branded oil filter for the ES350 (if there's such a thing--to be honest, I don't know since I've never purchased an ES350 oil filter from a Lexus dealer) and a "Toyota"-branded one for use in a V6 Camry...

To everyone else arguing as to whether the disc in question will work--in fairness to Alan, I think (and Alan--please correct me if I'm wrong here) his concern is more of an issue of whether Lexus may raise a fuss if you had a nav-related problem and they discovered that you used a product technically not meant for that particular nav unit...not so much as to whether or not said product will actually work. IOW, the concern is that Lexus could theoretically deny a warranty issue based on a technicality.

I know this is an old thread, but all wrongs need to be righted!!!! atc1 was 100% correct. I just ejected the disc from my 2009 and it looked exactly like his except its U33. Even has Toyota Motor Company on it. I feel sorry for someone who spends double or even triple just to have "Lexus" stamped on it. If it walks like a duck..........
