Exclamation Vibrating harsh thumps from engine bay

i have a problem where im in motion the car will harshly thump and vibrate dramaticaly....

i first encounter this problem after taking a hard right turn on those store slope drive way.

but anyways, at first i thought it was my breaks, rottors, etc, i double check and triple check and again again. bleed and the whole nine yard, and no rubbing and breaking is fine.

but what i did notice when my car was on jack stands, was when i put the car in motion and apparently the driver side wheel was spinning faster than the passenger side.

stranged...

so i spind the wheels all the way to the right and every wheel move equally.
then spind the the wheel to the left and the right side did not spind.

so my concern right now is that my axle to the transmission must be out of place. the long axle on the passenger side (right side).

my theory is the axle is out of place and not loose. the difference to this is, if it was loose it would leak tranny fluid and if it was out of place it would cause something like this.

in addition, to eyes view, all axle looks intact to the transmission. keep in mind that this is a manual transmission.

2ES 5 speed manual.

if anyone have encounter this problem please do let me know.

also, tomorrow morning i plan on taking out my axle in hopes to figure out the problem.

Swifty ive never seen nor had such a problem but maybe there is an issue with the splines and/or locking ring on the output shaft?!??? Not really sure. Oh and when you spin the wheel and the other side does not rotate are you in gear or neutral? I know on my car the l.f. wheel always spins faster in the air since that axle is shorter than the right side. Is there any play in the tie rod ends, ball joints or wheel bearings? Just curious.

I had somewhat of the same problem with my old tranny. When I spun the wheel to the right and gave it some gas the gears would grind and I wouldn't be going anywhere. Now I'm no expert so I'm not saying your gears are grinding, but If it were me I'd take it to any transmission shop that gives a free evaluation. Whatever the outcome, good luck.

Yeah definitely. Good luck and hopefully its nothing too major. Id hate to see yet another gen 2 fall by the wayside. Especially a 5 speed.

as far as the drivers side spinning faster... it will... you have a limited slip transaxle assembly... if you slow down the drivers side with a 2x4 the passenger side will increase in speed

i dunno dude, but im scared that it would be my tranny, and if it is, i think im going to put this car to rest...

im in college so i need to pay for books and all the stuff a college student have to buy...

I check everything and theres no play on rods, bearings, joints, etc. but i'll have a pro mech check just to make sure.

but it makes a weird sounds when im in reverse. like something rubbing on something.

i plan on taking out my axle and see if anything is wrong, also im going to flush my tranny fluid to see if theres any wear and tear.

if worse comes to worst, im going to give up on my car.

Now that is a extreme statement... giving up on your lexus is that really an option? check to see if your cv joints are shot as they will make a pop pop pop sound on a hard turn and you will feel it...

i'm just saying that if i can figure out the problem or do figure out the problem and the price of fixing is up the fart. then so be it.

but yeah, i'll check out the cv joints.

thats when i use to work 40 hours a week + over time... and had only 2 class.
all that was listed was when i had money...

i don't even have much now, to the point where i switch over to my stock rims and tires cause i can't afford new ones for my is300 rims.

now i work less then 30 hours and have 4 class... and i dont have financial aid.

i dunno dude, the point is i put too much on this car and i feel im going to have to put way too much.

It sounds like a CV joint issue, not that I am an expert on the subject. If that's what it is, it shouldn't break the bank. If you're in SoCal, take it to Dynamic Auto Services in Midway City.
