Default Delivery delay

First post by first time Lexus owner

I was supposed to take delivery yesterday.
The dealer had given me a 5-day window, 1/23 - 1/28
When I called yesterday, he said it was still in transit.
He (partially) blamed the E-Sport wheels, which had to be put on at port, but that was well-known at the time of the order and should have been factored into the original delivery estimate. Aside from the wheels, he basically said, " ... and yours isn't the only car that needs to be built and delivered."

I'm not normally much of a complainer, and I'm not unhappy with my dealings with the rep or the dealership, but he seemed to make a big deal when he first gave me that 5-day window. I read about the nano giveaway from corporate due to the recall delay. Am I justified to ask for/expect some concession because of the delay, or should I just sit patiently waiting for him to call for me to pick up my new baby?

By the way, I owe the club some thanks already, as I was able to get a much better deal on the warranty after reading of others' experiences.
Its really nice to be able to take advantage of all this accumulated knowledge.

Thanks all!

Dealers have no control over the ports nor the delivery trucks. They just get an estimate. I know you want the car already, but I would just be patient. Maybe they could have done a better job at explaining it to you. Good luck!

There is really very little your dealer could have done about the delivery date. I believe my car was over two weeks late and my last one was at least five days early. There are a lot of variables like volume, port installed options and delivery routes. The dealer did have my car ready within just a few hours of delivery so they did all they could.

OK, thanks, I will close this "survey" since it appears to be unanimous.
I think I will just mention to him not to stress the 5 day window so much in the future. If he had just said, "It probably won't be here before the end of the month," I wouldn't have had my expectations raised.
