I had a local shop install my new engine, when he finally got done after like a month and a half he said that the motor he installed had no compression. He said that since he didn't do a compression test he'd rebuild the motor for $750. What do you think could be the problem? do you think that he may be lying or is this a good deal???
When you say new engine do you mean new as in rebuilt or maybe what you really mean is a used engine... Did the shop supply your engine or did you? If the shop said they would find you a good used engine and they installed it they should be responsible... If you supplied the engine for the shop to install you should start hearing violins about now... A rebuild for $750 is dirt cheap as in it can't be done... More like $1600 and up for a rebuild... He is probably going to pull the heads and do a valve job for $750 that would be a deal if you supplied the engine...

The motor was found by him but bought by me, I had to do it by phone because I'm in the army and I won't be home for a couple of months, but I bought it from ebay from a place called japanese engines inc. Don't know if anyone has heard of them
I thought they pressure tested all engines and guaranteed them. I think this mechanic has a broken compression guage, giving you the run around, or the timing belt is broken.
