Default Removing B Pillars

Not surprisingly the paint on my B Pillars has wore down. I was pondering about either buying new ones from Sewell or possibly just repainting them myself with glossy jet black paint. So my question is if I remove the B Pillars so I can paint them, will the clips that hold them to the car break off or will I still be able to place them back in after I paint them? If theres a sure way of removing them without breaking anything please post it.

I changed the pillar pieces when I had my '01 ES. I bought them from my local Lexus dealer for ~$55, and it's pretty easy to remove the old ones as they are held on by clips to the body. Just get yourself a handy flathead to do the job. You're better off to replace the pillars than to repaint them.

Lexus should replace them with no charge. It seems that just about everyone with a dark colored car has had or has this particular problem, including myself. How can a luxury car manufacturer ignore this defect?

I doubt the replacement would be free of charge, the car is a 97' so I don't think they'd help me out

Lol thats funny. I was washing my ride today and mine are doing the same thing. I've actually been thinking about getting some carbon fiber vinyl and putting it over my pillar.
