Default Newb Question

Hi all,
I really dont know anything about my 94 es300 other than its not in great shape, it has 135k miles on it, and it gets horrible gas mileage. I'm talking 18mpg or so on mostly highway driving. Any clues on how to get this number back up to a respectable range (change some filters, tune up?)? What do most of you get?

Just a side note, I bought this car off of my parents. I drive a '99 BMW M Coupe for fun and have this es300 car to rack commuting miles up on and to drive in the winter weather. I'd like it to get a bit better mileage considering my coupe gets 22-24 with me driving like an idiot.

Any info is appreciated
thanks,
Scott

Mine gets about the same mileage, Im lucky if i get more than 200 miles to the tank, havnt gotten that for a loooong time lol. I just dont think the old ES's are capable of really good gas mileage ...

Tuneup, spark plugs, proper tire inflation, clean engine air filter. All stuff that's good to have in top condition. Get rid of excess load in the trunk (extra duffle bags, anything heavy, dead bodies, etc....). Don't drive with the gearbox in ECT PWR mode since that sucks a load of gas. Try a tank of premium gas to see if it helps. Make sure your fuel injectors are clean, avoid cheap gas.

In the dead of winter, I'd get around 21mpg in the city. Highway was 28.6mpg with the AC on and cruise set at 80-85mph on my '96.

On normal unleaded I get 33-34 on the highway in my 94 and I'm at a mile above sea level, with a new air filter some injector/fuel system chemicals, and spark plugs you should be able to get at least that

O2 sensors wear out just like spark plugs and they provide input for air/fuel delivery ratios. (gas mileage).

I usually get 310-330 miles on a full tank from a 92 and I recently gave it a tune up air filter and the sea foam.

I'd always get over 300 miles in mixed driving. By default, I drive slowly, but I do use the right pedal when necessary (like merging, quick turns, etc....)
