Alright my stupid antenna is doing crazy things again. I replaced the spine in the antenna a year ago or so because the teeth got stripped. Well it worked fine until now. Now the antenna cannot figure out how high it should go up when the radio it turned on. Sometimes it sticked out about three inches and sometimes it will go all the way up. Really odd. I am thinking maybe it is the motor going out but I dont know. Any ideas???

Try this with the help of a friend.
While somebody in the car turns on the radio, you help pulling the antenna staff up until the staff is fully extended. While in this position, clean the staff with a solvent like WD-40. I've had the same problem on my previous Lexus, and it always seemed to work.

take out the whole mechanism, shave the hole and use an internal window antenna. you can get one at Best Lies(Best Buy) or Circuit S***y(circuit city)
