Default Disable DRL's?

Does anyone know how to disable the Daytime Running Lights?

I checked the manual and the fuses labeled are specifically for the front right and front left headlights.

Is there a way to disable aside from pulling a fuse?

Default Customizable Features

Not positive......but, as the (Daytime Running Light System) is listed on pg. 408 of the Owners ManuaI as a personalized setting item, I think it's one of those things that they recommend be changed by Lexus?

The "default" on this is "ON", and I suspect you may have to go by the dealer to have them change to the "OFF" customized setting? When we picked up our "350" about two weeks ago, our salesman suggested we drive the car for a while and decide which settings we liked and didn't like and then go back to them and they'd change the ones we wanted adjusted.

I have no idea if this has ever happened, but I would be hesitant to disable ANY safety-related system on a motor vehicle.

In our litigious society, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that someone was sued when a collision occurred because one of the parties didn't see the other's vehicle due to the disabling of the DRL's. You can bet it's illegal to disable them in Canada.

Absolutely ridiculous, but how many times have you read of even more preposterous lawsuits?

Personally, I welcome the DRL's on Toyotas. Anything that MIGHT catch the attention of some DITZO driving while talking on a cell phone, adjusting their SAT radio/NAV, combing their hair, or the myriad other distractions today might save my life.

I have a headlight modulator on my motorcycle for the very same reason. CONSPICUITY is essential on a bike,

"Conspicuity", hmmmmmm, Good One!

Seriously though, I believe you're right. In California I think it's currently against the law to even send an email asking about disabling a potential safety device or feature?

Wanted to go to the drive in, and listen to the 3 movies through the audio system. Fear of that draining the battery, we took a different car that we could turn off the driving lights, so we could run the car at idle without distracting others.

set the parking brake, turn everything off and then back on, the DRL will stay off until you release your parking brake...at least that's the case with my 07 350.

The parking brake works, I replaced my high beams with hid's and I don't have DRL's anymore. They take a sec to warm up to there maximum brightness but are super bright on those dark country back roads.

On my way past 1998 Lumina LTZ, I also wanted to disable those lights. I set the parking brake to the first click, drove off and they were gone. Don't remember what it did to the life of the parking brake but had no issues for years. Nowadays, no big deal to have them on.
