Default wireless key remote

I have lost my wireless key remote for my car. Can I buy one my self then program it on my own, or is this some thing that I will have to take it to the dealer ship for them to do.

You can go buy an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm for about $200 or less. If you want the original Lexus key remote, the dealer charges $125 for the key and $2,500 for programing (I just went in today to get a free battery for my remote, then I asked about the master key w/keyless entry remote and that was the quoted price).

I have a '98 Es300 and I got a factory remote off of ebay for about $30 and it came with programming instructions and I did it myself. $2500 sounds insane even for a dealer. I think somebody was tryna screw you 3G!

Default remote

My master key broke in half and they wanted 265 for the master key replacement and reprogramming, but they only wanted 65 for the valet key, so I just went with the valet key instead because I don't want to pay that much for a key.

I really hope you didn't pay $2500+ for this....

I paid $30 for a used lexus remote and $5 for the programming instructions which i posted here for free.....paying anything more than $100 would be absolutely outrageous

How long ago did you get the remote for $84? I just went to the website and the price is $141; am I missing something?

Thanks

Heres a hint....get an aftermarket alarm....lexus will rape you to get a new key, and for that price, you can therefore get a better alarm....

Hey Guys ; just a note,Watch out for those E Bay remotes I've read on this site a others that some got some pretty soddy remotes when they got them, Some had to throw them away. that 's why did'nt go that way.FYI
