Unhappy 97 Es300 wireless door remote suddenly not working!

Sorry to dig up this old issue but if anyone can help that would be spectacular. I have a 1997 Es 300 that just suddenly stopped responding to my two remote controls. I really only used one consistently but it doesn’t respond at all now. There is no sound, flashing lights or any action from the car. I replaced both batteries with new ones. All the door locks work as designed with the key in the door lock and with the power door lock buttons in the car. I even went to the salvage yard and picked up a door lock receiver from another 97 Es & also from a 99 Es. I tried to reprogram my remotes back to the car before tearing into it and then tried to reprogram with the other two receivers with absolute no change or difference. I can get the car in programming mode but when it comes to the step where I press the buttons on the remote that is where it stops and there is no response from the car. I must now use the key for the door and the trunk. Can anyone assist? Help!

Thanks for your help Lexus2000. I finally solved the issue. The new batteries I had on hand must have been old stock. They were Rayovac CR2016 but must have been on the store shelf too long and in my kitchen drawer too long. As a final effort I decided I would try another brand of fresh batteries. I bought some Energizers and put them in both remotes and reprogrammed them to the car and they both work like new. Hope this helps someone in the future.
