Default Es300 Speaker Question

I have a 94 es300 and i installed and aftermarket kenwood headunit and a 10" sub in the trunk by using the adapter to go thru the cars amp as well. The question is if i wanted to add component speakers could i just take the main four (2 fr door, 2 rear deck) speakers out and use the existing wiring to put new speakers in? Would i notice much better sound? and would it be off because of the factory tweeters etc? Thanks also what size are the door and rear speakers

Cool

Best to use low level unputs, even on subs.
The question is if i wanted to add component speakers could i just take the main four (2 fr door, 2 rear deck) speakers out and use the existing wiring to put new speakers in?
Yes, you can retain the stock wring.

Do not cut off the dash speakers. The entire soundstage is screwed up. Replacing them requires taking off the dash, but it is well worth it to get some good 3" speakers that can handle some power & put them in.
Would i notice much better sound?
Somewhat. You must realize two things:
1) The stock amp is crap.
2) The stock speakers are paper crap
High end speakers can have problems being driven by a poor, low power, low quality amp.
For $200 you can get a descent headunit & 4 channel amp. You really should...
If nothing else get a good headunit & bypass the stock amp. Most headunits have morepower & a cleaner signal than the stock amps provide.
and would it be off because of the factory tweeters etc?
Factory tweeters are driven off the door speakers. It would not be off.
Thanks also what size are the door and rear speakers
Search.

Actually i just installed my alpine...60wx4...
Also installed Infiniti speakers in the doors left them stock in the back
Although i would really be skeptical and I would usually never do this...I must admit...the stock speakers in the back sound very good.

Oh and no..the squawkers and the tweeters are wired together...separate from the bottom 6.5 inch speakers. I don't know why people keep thinking they are wired to the door speakers..they are SEPARATE. looks like someone else has to do a little searching.
P.S. 6" to 6.5" in the front, 6"x9" speakers in the back and who cares what size the squawkers and tweeters are.

Dude...just bypass the amp, dont even think about using it...u dont really need a 4-channel either. I've compared mine to my friends and there is hardly any difference...(i actually think the lexus as a better acoustical environment) Just 4 decent speakers and an alpine or a head unit with power and ur all set.

ok here is what i have done to my car: I got my rear 6*9 and door 6 1/2 replaced with kenwood speakers. Don't plan to mess with the dash speakers because it will be a hassle to disasselble the dash. I also have a Alpine 12' Type R (500 watts RMS, MAX 1500 watts) powered by a Kenwood 600 RMS AMP. To tell you the truth, i think the factory head unit and AMP powering the four speakers aren't bad at all. it is loud and clear (loud enough for my type R). Unless you are into competition or planning to get two 12 inch, i dont think you need to change anything cept the speakers. Besides, i think the head unit that came with the car is too big, it would look goofy with a kit

Cool

15watts max. It's lame as hell on most aftermarket speakers, considering many of them will drive 70-90watt RMS. Most of the time they're under-driven by a mile.

I installed some 280watt sony's and they sound good. The only problem is that they're not as LOUD as the stock pioneers. X(
