Default front speaker replacement options for '96 ES300

this is a general speaker "sound" question. i have a 1996 ES300. i am still using the factory amp and head unit, but the front door speakers sound thuddy. actually, its sounds like the amp is over-driving these speakers at a reasonable volume level. i probably will not replace the tweeters, so i am guessing that i don't want to use coax speakers in the doors. does anyone have an opinion on what brand to use for low to midrange? (by the way, i am using a 10" sub with a LPF at 80Hz in the back, so for the front speakers, i would rather have better midbass power-handling than low lows.) the factory amp provides plenty of power for the front; i am just looking for a speaker that will handle it.
