Paid $89.00 (w/10% AAA discount) for a NEW not rebuilt axle at NAPA. The other supply stores had none in their warehouses and would take a week or so to get one. They must all source from the same axle rebuilder because they all knew the inventory...0 and quoted the same day for delivery!

Red face CV boot replacement

I have a 95 es300 and I noticed my boots are pretty torn and need replacing. My axels sometimes click when I have the steering wheel turned fully right or left, but it doesn't sound too bad. I was wondering what causes the axels to click exactly. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Default DIY tool to get stuck axle out

Seemed like the most relevant thread to post this?
My 2000 ES300 needed a new passenger-side CV axle at about 175,000 miles. Got the new part from NAPA, but getting the rusted old one out was near impossible without the specialized tool we should've rented for that. (Of course, it was late on a Sunday afternoon.) So my friend modified a cheap ball joint separator he had from Harbor Freight to get the leverage needed and to get a good fit around the axle. See tools and how they were used below.
