Advice? Yes, take the car to a qualified mechanic.

With all due respect, if you have to ask it is most likely beyond your skill and tool levels. Agree to find a good Lexus service technician in your area. This is not a job for the inexperienced.. !

Yea, if you can't fix it, find a good lexus dealer shop.

It's usually easier to remove both at the same time and then do your repairs; but it depends on what you're trying to do. Its possible to remove the tranny without removing the engine, but I've found its easier to remove the engine and tranny together.

Just remove and unplug whatever you need to and lift it out. Use a hoist leveler to tilt the engine. Then once its out of the car you can easily seperate the engine and tranny.

Cool

It's best to pluck them both out of the top of the engine bay with the engine.
That being said... Experienced Toyota / Lexus mechanics with a lift can drop an ES / Camry v6's transmission out the bottom faster.

I've given a hand in going out the bottom, but never done it myself. Take my word for it. Anyone (given tools, directions & time) can take it out the top, but you'll be screwed if you have to ask how to do it & try to drop it out the bottom.

Buy a Haynes book.

Then go to techinfo.toyota.com.

Pay your $10usd & you have 24 hours to download all the avalible factory repair/service/owners manuals for any Toyota/Lexus/Scion they have the books for.
