Question Leaves??? HELP!!!

Ok. I am still in the process of getting my car "road ready" and having a new transmission shipped in from Cali. Should be here tomorrow. Anyway, for the past few days I have been waxind, shampooing the carpet, cleaning the engine, getting oil changed, etc. I see there has been quite a few topics on the cabin air filter in here. Well, seeing that there is kind of a nasty smell when I cut the a/c on, I want mine changed. I have a 94 so I look here to see where about's I can find it at. Not really sure but I believe I found it. I pulled back the carpet from the driver's side and pulled the white plastic panel out then a white slot/door thing. When I did, there was leaves and dirt and all sorts of stuff in there. Am I at the right location? If so, I must be missing an air filter or it may have disenergrated in there.. Not Sure.

wow! you should go get a shop vac and get all that out of there. I cant for the life of me figure out why all that debris is in there. Wow! let us know what happens once its cleaned out and you put the cabin filter in(btw it sound like you are in the correct spot for the filter)

Oh yeah. I got out the vac and got it out. Even got an old tooth brush to get the little debris out. I have to wait on my mom to get back in town to stop by the sore for me and pick up that filter. I guess the reason all that debris was in there was because there was no filter in there. ????? But I am so ready to have all this done and over with. I have some LED's that I ordered from a site posted from the "Lighting" forum and hopefully the www.clublexus.com stickers will be arriving in a few days (ordered them about 2 weeks ago) and I can finish up the car so I can go to WV!!! My car looks great right now and I am almost broke. I figure that in the past 3 months, I have spent close to 3,300 dollars on that car. Wow. But most of that was done at Lexus so what can I expect?!?! If I get this filter installed by myself and all the rest, That's great for a girl. YA THINK???

haha...too bad when i went to the toyota dealer they didn't know anything about a cabin filter...
ill have to check out lexus dealer later...

does anyone know the toyota or lexus part numbers so i can just get the filter from the dealer?

Well.... I have gotta find somewhere else that sells them cheaper than the Lexus dealership. They wanted $47 for one. Not installed. I might make one like a few other members in here have done. Or, just not have one. I haven't had one since I got the car used so apparently it's not that important.

lol what i love is the cost of the filter and then the additional cost of the plastic clips that break due to their age that hold the carpet against the center console area!

It's crazy!!! This car is starting to cost way too much. Maybe it's a continuation of bad luck that started from 5/11/05... Get a ticket for windows being too dark.. My amp tears up so I get another one....My battery dies so I get another one....Headlight goes out so I get another one....My new amp tears up and in the process melts the 12's and cinges the box but this time they are under warranty so those replaced for free.... The other headlight goes out so I get another one....My transmission tears up and by the way will be here Wednesday...$2,500+ for that.....Battery dies again but will get replaced, under warranty... Now an darn air filter that may screw something up. Probably not but with this luck??? Who knows?!?!

well with me it was bulbs bulbs , a few extra bulbs, alternator, bulbs......replaced bulbs with LCD's and i was good to go!

everyone has weird little troubles with their cars especially since they are 9yrs old. make sure your timing belt, all fluids are changed and you should be good from now on.

best of luck!

Well I just got my LED's in today and will put them in as soon as it stops raining. I am trying to get all this stuff changed before I go to WV because that's a 9 1/2 hour drive and all I want is to make it there and back before something else tears up. The timing belt??? I believe that is fine... I hope....

Yes you are in the exact spot for the cabin air filter. About two months ago, there was a post regarding the same topic and the gentleman had asked why there was no filter in the cabin air filter slot. I believe the answer was: not all cars comes shipped with air filters or something rather. I can't exactly recall the answer, but the address your question, yes you are in the right area and from what you describe, you dont have an airfilter in there.

You can go to lexus and expect to fork over an arm and a leg to get an air filter... or you can make your own. Find the dimensions of a standard filter for your vehicle, go to the local hardware store and pick up the house air filters and just cut out the right size and you should be good to go.

good luck.
