Check engine light
Today the orange colored check engine light came on my 96 es300, this really upsets me after just getting an engine put in few months ago. Does any know any common reasons it would come on? Going to mechanic tommrow.
you're first need to find out what engine(year, type) you swap in .. then go to www.troublecodes.net and get your code.. then the exports at CL can tell you what you need and should do..
The CEL issue has been discussed numerous times. Please use the search engine, I can't stress that enough!
But to answer your question, go to your local Autozone and ask to have the OBD-II error codes read out. It is a free service. Don't forget to write down those error codes (they are in the format of "P####", where # is a number). After that, follow what 1993ES300x has suggested

i'm asumming he meant EGR.. anyways.. what does the EGR do??.. i had to replaces the EGR vaccume filter.. .. but i can't seem to find it.. but i created my own with a white breather valve cotton thing.. just reshape it. i guess i cut it into a circul shape.. cuz the old one is really beated down and very dirty..
Yeah I meant EGR, I think it has something to do with the charcoal canister. The light went away by itself, dont know what I should do now. I sure am not gonna spend 150 for a new one.

yeh, i know what you mean. money is tight nowadays.. i still have to change my O2 sensor. first see if you can get a use one from the junkyard first or if it's a good idea to get a used one.. cuz it ain't wise for me to get a used o2 sensor from the junk place..
